You’ve decided to sell your business, but to whom? Learn about some of the potential buyers that exist as you develop your exit plan.

  • Management team: Your business’s own managers and/or executives are the acquiring group as opposed to another company or outside investors.1
  • Strategic buyer: An outside company seeking to acquire another in order to achieve its own long-term business plans more quickly and efficiently – for example, expansion into a new market, new product lines.2
  • Financial buyer: An investor or group of investors seeking a company where they expect future earnings will grow. This group is interested in maximizing their return on investment as they may sell the business in the future.2
  • Private equity: Specialized investors who inject equity into a private company to help it grow in order to gain a financial return upon exit.1
